Progress report waneing down
I receved a Progress report letter by Think progress today, and the first paragraph shocked me, that their crew didn’t mention how the Lebanese/Palestinian conflict started/escalated.
This is what the very first paragraph reads:
On July 12, “Lebanese Hezbollah militants crossed the Israeli border,” capturing two Israeli soldiers and killing eight. The attack followed a similar incident two weeks earlier when “an eight-man team of Palestinian militants tied to Hamas…entered Israel through a half-mile long tunnel under the border and attacked an Israeli Army post, killing two soldiers and capturing 19-year-old Cpl. Gilad Shalit.” These provocations triggered intense fighting between the Israeli military and Hezbollah fighters that has continued for nine days and included a sustained Israeli air assault on Lebanon and rocket attacks on Israel by Hezbollah. Israel, like any other sovereign nation, has the right to defend itself. But other administrations, Republican and Democratic alike, have seen a vital United States interest in working aggressively with the international community to contain violence in the region. The Bush administration, however, has stayed passive as the situation spirals out of control. Yesterday, White House Press Secretary Tony Snow said, “I’m not sure at this juncture we’re going to step in and put up a stop sign.” Meanwhile, the cycle of violence escalates and the region is afflicted with a growing humanitarian crisis.
They failed to mention that in Lebanon, the IDF commandos were captured inside Lebanese territory. Asia times reported it first, and the French Voltairenet.org confirmed it yesterday. Here’s one from Forbes. And here, and here.
For the Gaza situation, IDF has captured two brothers one day before the IDF soldier was captured. Oh, and there’s the Israel’s beach shelling, a story that keep slipping people’s minds. All of this might have triggered the IDF soldier to be kidnapped. And how about this, the arrest of the parliamentarians has been planned for weeks before.
It looks like to me Israel is sending their kids in harm’s way to justify plans that have been on the table for about a year.
Appendix:
WRH (finally) put up a coherent page about the “kidnaped” soldiers.

‘They failed to mention that in Lebanon, the IDF commandos were captured inside Lebanese territory. Asia times reported it first, and the French Voltairenet.org confirmed it yesterday. Here’s one from Forbes. And here, and here.’
Hm, I didn’t know that. Funny, there should be more reports about that, but I figure it doesn’t fit into the concept of ‘atacking evil terorists.’
