Genova

Went to the Genovan aquarium in — Genova, duh. As someone with a bit of knowledge of the “trade”, I didn’t find it that impressive, other than the raw power needed to filter and maintain the entire complex (filtration and water quality wise).
More under the fold.

Simona had a little mishab with her coffee, as the cup was broken and leaking plasma fast.

Some weird construction to hold the roof up and some sort of gondola for site seeing or something.

Ship parked at the marine next to the public aquarium.

A cerianthid. They can pack a nasty sting.

Human size skimmer. I have a “mini-me” version of a skimmer, about 50 cm tall and radius about 10 cm.

One of the tank has a few medusae stages. This picture depicts the polyp stage. I guess everyone can imagine how an adult jelly fish looks like. Aurelia aurita

A seal. The red light is from another camera or a navy seal sniper is about to take it out.

Mediterranean type tank.

Starfish tube feet. I have a movie showing the movement of the feet. Pretty neato.

This one is about 150 cm long. Pretty scarry stuff for some.

One pretty fast fish - a barracuda.

Tropical stuff. Not great pics because the lack of light and forbidden use of flash.

Large HQI lights.

Amphiprion and P. kauderni

Anemones.

Oh, and bottle-nose dolphin.
